This is America. We are Caesar.

Courious. Obama said middle class ends at $150,000 and down in which this bracket of people will receive one form or another of tax breaks. Then he defined rich as anybody making over $250,000. These people he tells us will definately get taxed because he says they can afford it and probably even want to give more of their money to the federal government.

Okay, that's fine, right?

My immediate question, which Dealey made suggestion to: Who are the people between $150,000-$250,000? Why did he omit them? And should we believe that he doesn't intend to raise taxes on that group of people as well?

For those of us in his definition of the middle class, doesn't it almost makes you want to stay right where you are?

My suggestion is give the American people a flat tax rate which would start around 10%. The government could further provide every American with the option to pay 15%, 20%, 25%... 50%... and so on... for those who would like to pay more can then pay more. Especially, those who feel rich enough who feel like they would like to donate more of their money to the federal government. If the government adopted such an idea we would never have to debate taxes again. If the result gave the federal government a smaller budget it would force them to spend the American's people more wisely. If government needed more money this system would force the states to pick up the responsibility for additional spending and pet projects... this would put the focus on state and local officals to spend the people's money on pet projects where there is more accountability.

Render unto Caesar that which belongs to Caesar has been quoted to quiet the low-tax people in the country. But this is America. We are a Democratic-Republic. We are Caesar.  Each of us on the left, right, middle, whereever, make up a piece of Caesar's conscience...
This one says stop the class warefare and give us a system that is more fair and simple.

McCain Finds Voice

The NAACP historically has been a place that Republican presidential candidates have avoided and therefore it was an unlikely place for John McCain to find his voice.  The speech was an act of courage all Republicans can be proud of and not only Republicans but all Americans.  It was a powerfully healing speech for those on both sides which stem from the fear of attacks, to politicizing an event, to the charges made against Republicans as a whole of racism and bigotry.  During the speech McCain was thoughtful and polite to his opponent who did not offer combative contrasts to his differences with Barack but offered their difference in a jovial and easy to swallow way.  Not much of a writer today but McCain has represented his party and country well this afternoon finding a voice I think most Americans might want in a future president.

Mark Sanford for Vice President

After a little internet surfing, the Ron Paul crowd is apparently quite supportive of Mark Sanford as someone with bonefide Libertarian/Conservative creds... On top of that I think the South Carolina Governor from South Florida is the perfect Maverick match for McCain from the issues to style and why not clinch the southern states especially Florida.  It certainly wouldn't hurt taking two birds with one stone, the energized backing of the Paul crowd plus Ron Paul would actually be able to help campaign for the team reaching that market of voters.  And it would reassure Conservatives especially on fiscal issues and Independents because of his own reputation of independence and bucking his own state's establishment.

McCain-Sanford '08

I keep coming back to it.. can't help it.
I wouldn't mind Rice but it might be too complicated, she would be great.
Also, I like Ridge but his abortion credentials don't mesh with the Party if we want to think about the future.  Otherwise, I think he hits money on all of the other areas needed for high office:  Being a former Governor of Pennsylvania might help put atleast one blue state into play, he has run a full agenda before, former Vietnam Vet, first Director of Homeland Security... he has presidential qualities... would reinforce Barack's lack of all around experience.

Then there is Sanford who brought those two pigs into the State Legislature and he used to sleep in his office to save money... that makes for some great stories about an American Vice President... maybe someday POTUS.

This ticket could connect with Conservatives, Independents, and normalize on a national level what is good about Libertarians widening the Republican Party's appeal.

Obama is UNDIPLOMATIC

Obama is the guy who is claiming to be the new champion of diplomacy...
Wants to meet with Iran and other world dictators, etc.

This 'he's black' thing is a divisive tactic that is bad for America. Republicans especially want to get out of the misperception of being a racist party because they simply are not, he wants to keep them there?
That's UNDIPLOMATIC.

Also, telling Clinton supporters to 'get over it,'
That's UNDIPLOMATIC.

Also, backing out of public funding after promising to pursue meetings with McCain about it?
He didn't attempt to meet with Mac and broke a promise to the American people.
That's UNDIPLOMATIC.

Also, not meeting with America's own General Petraeus?
That's UNDIPLOMATIC.

What else?

Elect this guy to represent US to smooth things over with our enemies?

Get Over It, Sweetie!

'Get over it,' Obama says today to Clinton supporters.
This comes from the man who wants to be Diplomat-in-Chief to Iranian leadership who calls Israel a 'stinking corpse,' hasn't yet met with Petraeus our own General, didn't meet with McCain on public financing and then unilaterally decides to back out of it while breaking his campaign promise, wants limited debates with McCain so he can run around and basically call Republicans racists while trying to 'change' the poisonous atmosphere of politics... Obama the real smooth talker!

Barack: 'Did I mention he's a black homo?!?' What did he just say?!?

Is anyone else tired of being painted as a racist/bigot just for identifying with the Republican Party?  The title of this article is an exageration of what Obama just did!!  What the heck!!  This makes me just a little less sympathetic toward this decent straight man with a family-20year church going-deep faith-clean-never-been-a-muslim-All-American politician from humble Kansas-Kenyan-Indonesian-Hawaiian-Chicago roots...

Who happens to be racially exploiting the fact that he is the first African American to be nominated for the presidency... Thank you for your Respect, Sir!  Actually, Barack said: 'Did I mention he's black?'  As a warning against supposed attacks which Republican would say closer to the general election as if in a way that wouldn't be to his benefit?

Is this race baiting supposed to be the new politics we've heard about?  Playing on our fears?

Honestly, would I mind having an African American as a president for the sheer symbolism alone?
I want an African American president!!  I want one!!  I want one!!  Right now!! '08!!
I want a brilliant African American as president, vice-president, the entire presidential cabinet, every single Governor, Senator, and Congressman!!  And it shouldn't be hard to do because their are many extremely intelligent African Americans (who don't need me to qualify that for them).

But do I want to be made into a racist because I am in the opposing party based solely the upon how I think about the issues?  Sure why the heck not?  I won't be one!!  But I am a Conserative anyway, a Republican anyway, and these lies will be made anyway!! Call me one, okay Obama?!  Use your innuendo!!  Use your forcasting of things that haven't happened and probably won't because too many are scared to be painted racist when they are not!! Call me one!!  I won't be one though!!  Then we will have our reparations!!  Making today's white Republicans and Conservatives pay for something they did not do!!  Fine with me!!  Let's do it!!  It will be this generation... my generation that will pay... Fine!!  Fearmonger about the phantom fearmongers!!  Make us pay!!

But who really cares what he thinks about?  Even if he is the most LIBERAL Senator/candidate ever to run for this office...  SO WHAT!!  Obama '08!!  Hope!!  Change!!  It's a Democrat year anyway!!

I am sorry but I am tired of this!
I am a Conservative... I am not racist!
I identify with Republicans most of the time, not all of the time... I am not a bigot!
I believe in God... I am not a homo-phobe!

And if Obama wins-- Please, DON'T DO IT THIS WAY!

God Gives & Takes what is His, and He Is Good

In Response to the comments made on David Limbaugh's column recommending Ravi Zacharias' new book:

If there is a God, the God of the Bible, if He did Create all things including man, then all things belong to Him with which He can do with whatever He wants. And if this is the case then His goodness is not subject to any man's opinion of goodness, right, and wrong... it is uncomfortable I know.

God gave me life.
If God decides to take my life, is he a murderer? Do not all men eventually die?

Is He not the One in control of all life and death? Did I choose my parents or to be born? Do I decide whether I will live to be one hundred or fifty-seven?

Does God not have the right to judge me on His own basis on His own account?
Does God not have the right to judge a group of people?
Did God not give them life?
If my baby dies, is God powerless?
Is He a murderer if He takes it away?

A man is called a murderer because he attempts to play the role of God. Why don't people live to be 120 or even 150 years? Why do some die young and why do some die old? Is that not a judgment that God makes? And yet God has graciously given us doctors and wisdom...

What position am I in to point the finger at God as a murderer for any death?

Though there is one thing I do not feel at liberty to do that other men feel the freedom to do: to make a judgment on God. If I do, does not that make me play the role of God as His superior?

If someone believes that kind of thinking to be naive, then that is what I choose for myself despite that opinion. What is God's opinion?

Many say God does not exist and I wonder if they have stopped to ask him what He thinks of that? I suppose they pray every night that He does not. Has He not been merciful even to those who despise Him? Will physical deeath not come to both those who love God and despise Him?

Don't questions about God's control in matters of life and death suggest that life is sacred? Whether they are short-lived or long-lived, handicapped or capable, that we should value all life as a gift from God? With respect for friend and foe alike? Certainly, when God takes any life it was at His judgment and at His command... whether it happened in the Old Testament or this evening. Who will question Him when that time comes?

It comes to us all...

Men Naturally hate God

It is the natural state of men to hate God. Most men simply need the slightest excuse to dismiss God on any level because the idea of a Supreme Moral Authority is absolutely abhorent to people on a general basis because it requires solemn recognition, followed by (an apparent archaic idea) obedience to SMA's ideas of right and wrong...

But men desire to be gods unto themselves who are the ultimate deciders of what is right or wrong and answering to no one. Who is really shocked by this statement? Cosmic Libertarianism. But if men decide what is right or wrong on their own notions and feelings: then right and wrong become subjective. Under that simple logic, objective definitions of right and wrong would not exist.

Who then is to say two men cannot marry?
Who then is to say it is not okay to partially birth a baby and then suck its brains through a tube?
Who then is to say murder is wrong?
What if (what if) people started to think it was right?
Who then is to make any moral decision on any level? It only becomes relative to what a society decides is normal... thankfully, we still agree murder is still wrong.

There is one thing I ought to never do, which is to make myself into a god. Though every man already has (including myself) when he/she choses what is right or wrong based on his/her own subjective and limited perspective...
Is there no accountability?
Is there no objective right or wrong?

God is no murderer but does He not maintain the right as my Maker to throw me into Hell forever if He sees fit? Or Justify me in the way of His own choosing if He choses?

Maybe unknown to the rest of the world I am the worst of moral violators under any moral code? Will it never be found out?
Who is to say I made any syntax/grammar errors in this paragraph?

Imperfections, Character, Conservatism

Adversity is life's gift that regularly tests our faith and strengthens our character. Nobody asks why when things are going good but when the good times go, most demand a reason to the question why and often times many simply complain. But difficulties are the times when we are stretched and tested.

Ronald Reagan was the first president that I ever knew. I grew up with him as he defined for many of us what it meant to be the President of the United States. Some of the great themes of that time revolved around the Cold War: East vs. West, Good vs. Evil, Machine vs. Man. As kids we used say that Americans had red blood flowing in our veins and the Russians had blue blood. The symbolism was seen in the nineteen-eighties when Rocky fought the machine-like Russian where the Russian fought like a machine but Rocky fought with his soul. That is what I remember most... Reagan fighting the powerful machine called the Soviet Union by talking to the American people about something called Character... Character. Why? Because he believed the soul of the American people is what made this country run and what made this country great and was not simply made great by the strong arms of power of which the worlds of antiquity only knew of.

This political season is not ideal for those who remember Reagan. As time goes on, some of our memories fade a little when thinking back. And in this up and coming election (just as important as those in the past) we have a choice of two candidates.

For many John McCain isn't ideal for those of us who remember past greatness.

But this election is not just about the candidate we have before us... but I believe it is about our own character. When I think about character, I think about a tree with it roots running deep and when the strongest winds and rain blow even some of the branches sway as some of the weaker branches and leaves break away. Nevertheless, the tree stands firm, respecting the forces that had come against it, a little shaken, some places broken, and yet as if to still laugh in the face of it's adversity because it still stands firm.

The American politics of late is one that truly lacks a sense of humor... it is a fierce sport, surely as democracy intended it to be. But don't you remember Reagan laughing? He had a great sense of humor even though there were many great trials... did it have something to do with Character?

Many in the Republican Party can see clearly that the party is torn. But we must hold on to the ideas that were imparted to us, especially that Character and Conservatism always go hand-in-hand.

Today, adversity is testing our faith as Conservatives and as a party, but we also have a great opportunity to be strengthened by it.

Again, for many of us this election is not an ideal situation. Many will want to just sit this out. But may we as Conservatives and as battered Republicans not defeat ourselves by losing vision in the midst of our own faults and imperfections as deep as they may seem. But inspite of them we need to take control, come together, get a sense of humor, smile in the face of our challenges, and work through them.

If we do, I believe we will be better off for it and the Republican Party's character will have proven to be deeper by overcoming its flaws. If not we will be handing the entire government over to those who do not share our core values.

John McCain is not perfect, at times he has even had a hand in compromise, but he is our leader and the only one who stands in the way of keeping our opposition from taking the Presidency and both Houses of Congress. Or will we simply hand it to them?

How will we handle our own imperfections? Will we have the courage to overcome them? Or will we hand the victory over to those who carry another philosophy; a philosophy which is not merely an imperfect Conservatism but a way of thinking and governing that is its complete opposite?

This election, let's carefully consider what is before us:

Pro-Life, Constructionist Judges, Lower Taxes with Spending Contraints, Vetoes on Earmarks, Traditional Marriage, Securing the Borders First, Health Care Empowering Patients,
Win our Wars, Strong Defense, Negotiating from a Position of Strength

vs.

Pro-Abortion, Pro-Partial Birth/Infanticide, Liberal Judges, Higher Taxes without Spending Constraint, Sex-Ed for Kindergarteners, Gay Marriage, No Real Immigration Policy, Nationalized Health Care, Surrender our Wars, Compromised Defense, Negotiating with our Enemies without Pre-Conditions

This election there is a choice. How will we deal with our own obstacles? How will we choose?

Obama's McCain-Bush Inoculation

Obama will continue to tie McCain to Bush but it won't be enough for him to win.

Obviously, this type of rhetoric serves the purpose of energizing his base which is mostly comprised of people worn out from the Bush administration.  We understand this because it is quite similar from when reasonable clear headed people could not wait to see the Clintons go (and are still ecstatic that the junior senator was able to fend off the Clintons from entering into the White House for us).

But then there is this idea of inoculation.  Soon enough the American public at large will no longer be affected by this particular mantra.  Most Americans are disappointed with Bush but are not made up of the types filled with ravaging intolerance towards him.  And for the those Americans who are mainly comprised of Independents, Centrists, Populists, and engaged Moderate Republicans and Democrats all of whom will be deciders in the election, they will begin to desire greater substance in the sound-byte debates.

Basically, Obama's problem is that he is lacking moderation in this line of attack.  There is no doubt he will continue to do this but the more frequently he uses this attack, upping the dosage, the effect will be more and more dimished as time goes by and this constant headline catcher will drown out all of the other substance he attempts to present.

And the real problem for him is that McCain is nothing like Bush.

Tom Delay is Right

Washington Times has a story:  Delay: Long rebuilding process for GOP
Aims to get conservative groups to collaborate, by Stephen Dinan, Monday June 9, 2008

Delay's position is that an Obama candidacy will energize Republicans but would set the country back thirty years concering judicial picks to higher courts.  But he has also stated that McCain is strong enough on basic Conservative issues that the party would have something to build on.

We can only hope that McCain wins which would enable Conservatives to reshape the Republican Party over the next two to four years while keeping the Democrat House & Senate at bay... an Obama presidency would energize the party but would set back any real movement in Conservative government where it would be more difficult to get things done later.

McCain has two years to prove himself to Conservatives to the party.  If he keeps his promises on ear marks, judicial picks, a border fense first, and other important basic issues that Conservatives are primarily concerned about, then the Conservative movement can work independently within the Republican Party and move forward...

He doesn't even need to be successful going head to head with a Democrat House & Senate,

But if he doesn't follow through on his conservative promises then he will be a lame duck by 2010.

My bet is that he will stand next to the promises of his campaign which will bolster Conservatives and give them issues to run on in 2010 and 2012, if he does: the party and Conservatives will move forward, if not: He Loses!

His rhetoric is RINO but he MUST govern Conservatively or else he will be powerless in two years after winning the White House.  A McCain White House will be better in the long haul for the Conservative movement than an Obama White House.  We have to bet on McCain!

Let Conservatives use McCain how he has used his party!  Let's move forward!

Obama's Islamic ties

There have been questions about Barack's ties with the religion of Islam.  Whether he truly holds sympathies for the religion...
A large number of Democrats and MSM reporters are mainly driven by secular view points so they cannot understand most religious issues outside of simplistic interpretation of the cause and effect of the events that surround these types of issues.  They mainly believe that since Obama attended a church with a Christian name that that is enough to prove that he isn't a Muslim or even someone who has questionable sympathies that may skew future judgment in dealing with foreign policy, and to be fair normally that should be enough.

But what the MSM stories ultimately miss is that since Obama has separated himself of his church of 20 years, the relationship with the church now appears to have been a matter of political convenience rather than spiritual conviction.  This primarily is believed because most people are having a hard time believing that he sat in that church for 20 years without hearing this type of preaching.

But with the latest big incident to come out his church surround Pfleger, we all were able to observe the approving reaction of the church listening to this guest speaker, which leads to conclude that this kind of thing really is normal there.

If enough members the public become convinced that his Christian convictions were meant purely for political gain then that will be enough to tie him to religion of Islam and his connections with the religion in his past.  The reason is: if a man can be dishonest about one religion then he can be dishonest about another.  Because of the healthy sensitivity Americans have had based on radical attitudes and actions directed towards this country, this is the only connection that will be needed:

A political superficial Christianity = serious questions about Muslim ties.

Serious and unresolved doubts surrounding this issue ought to give enough Americans pause before they consider casting a vote for Obama as President of the United States of America.

Yet, greater problems await still for the junior senator involving his connections.  We all have known and have had doubts raised concerning who he is and what he believes because of intimate and financial connections with Wright, Pfleger, Ayers, Rezko, Auchi, etc.

But there are two main connections that draw all these other connections together.
It is his own chief strategist David Axelrod who will be making the case that Obama is really only a puppet of Mayor Daley's Chicago political machine and all of these shady connections with the shady characters listed above are all connected to dirty Chicago politics.  Change we can believe in?

Dirty chicago politics is the theme that ties this mess together, specifically we will watn to know how involved Mayor Daley truly is in all this.  Ironically, Obama's challenge now is to somehow prove against the Biblical truth that bad company corrupts good morals.

How Superstitious is McCain?

This post is meant to be light-hearted, but there have been stories that have gone around about McCain being superstitious?  How much so?  There are some superstitious similarities between him and Gov. Sanford.

For example the first letters of John McCain's name spelled forwards are the same as the first letters of Mark Sanford's name spelled backwards:

John Sidney    McCain
Jr.     Sanford, M.C.

Also, they are both known as mavericks who want to control the government's wasteful spending.

Well, maybe in fifty to hundred years this stuff might make some interesting presidential lore if there ever became a McCain-Sanford ticket, especially if McCain was so compelled to pick him for such superstitious reasons?

Marshall Clement Sanford Jr. might be a good pick to maintain the southern states of old political map from the last few elections instead of rewriting the entire map.  Especially, since Obama won a sweep of the states in the South.  He has been the popular governor of South Carolina, was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, is now forty-eight years old, they both have enviromentalist streaks, he is notably known to be more conservative than McCain even with the maverick label, and I personally think he would be a good pick for Vice President of the United States!

Obama to refuse McCain and Clinton?

One way or another Barack's weakness may be exposed.

The town hall Lincoln-Douglas style debates will be welcomed greatly by the American people.  After some of the spectacles in the primary debates ranging from the weird Youtube questions, to overbearing moderators, to the undertones and overtones of media bias... the revived style will hopefully awaken some real debate and will also demonstrate the real character of the candidates as they will be in the position of moderating themselves while dealing with answering the audience's questions and their own back-and-forth challenges.

But an interesting question for now is whether Barack will commit to this or not?

He has already refused Hillary (understandable) late in the game on debating in this way, but this is a brand new ball game with McCain.  Will he really be able to avoid such a challenge without looking like he doesn't want to expose his own weakness?  These types of debates will not give prominense to the MSM as when they had run the show, but I sure hope that he gets called on this if he backs down from this exciting format.  If he goes forward with it or backs down, one way or another his weakness may be exposed.
